Alexander Daniels are currently recruiting on behalf of an innovative, highly ethical, market leading manufacturing company based in Dudley, who are seeking a customer focused, results driven Assistant Accountant for a 12 month FTC (with a view to being made permanent). You will be reporting into the Management Accountant supporting the UK and European Finance Team’s existing and transitional operations to resolve issues, streamline processes, drive change and act as a liaison between UK and Belgium. Your day-to-day duties will include;

  • Providing advice and support in relation to European Financial processes
  • Creating documented standard operating procedures for all duties in Belgium
  • Performing analysis of Customers and Suppliers in Belgium
  • Processing UK/Belgium Month End (accruals, prepayments and depreciation with journal postings)
  • Balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis, investigation and resolution
  • Supporting processing of Company VAT Returns/Tax Returns
  • Preparation of Management Accounts
  • Purchase Ledger Reconciliation
  • Cash processing and collection
  • Supplier Invoice processing
  • Preparing Daily Sales Reports
  • Customer and Supplier Liaison
  • Additional reporting as required
  • Covering for other members of the Finance Team as and when required

My client is seeking an analytical and pragmatic AAT qualified (or equivalent) candidate with knowledge of UK and European Financial Legislation and previous experience working at operational level in an accountancy environment.You must have excellent IT and Excel skills, with the ability to cope with a high volume of work and meet demanding deadlines. Excellent professional communication skills, and a flexible, solution orientated approach to your workload are essential. French and/or Dutch language skills would be advantageous but by no means essential.

My client offers excellent company benefits and are currently remote working in line with Covid-19 guidelines. The hours of work are Monday to Thursday 8.30 am to 5.00 pm, Fri 8.30 am to 4.00 pm. This is an interim role and therefore only candidates who are available at short notice will be considered.
